Visual Painter
Music is very special to people, and to artists it is no different. In every painting
or drawing class I have ever taken, the teacher either plays music or tells you to provide
your own. In a way, the music separates you from the rest of the world. The music can
relax you or even inspire you. Sometimes I even felt the music set the pace for my
drawings.
Visual Painter reverses that feeling. Instead of the music setting the pace for
the artwork, the artwork sets the pace for the music. The user moves as freely as possible, just like a conductor of a band, drawing with a flashlight acting as their paintbrush. The
picture drawn is shown in an external window which can be saved. At the same
time, music will correspond to the flashlight movements.
As a digital artist
I make things that people can have fun with. This project uses a webcam, a color
tracker, and music, which are all ingredients many people find amusing. This
project is an interesting study
on the comparison between sounds and images.
